Professional Experience

Prior to joining the Firm, Matt completed consecutive judicial clerkships at the United States Bankruptcy and District Courts for the District of Nevada, respectively.  At the Bankruptcy Court, Matt clerked primarily for the Honorable Mike Nakagawa, Chief Bankruptcy Judge.  Matt also drafted bench memoranda for the Honorable Bruce Markell  and several visiting judges.  Matt also assisted the Honorable Laurel Davis during her transition to the bench. While at the District Court, Matt clerked for the Honorable Andrew Gordon, United States District Judge, and the Honorable Jennifer Dorsey, United States District Judge, during their inaugural year on the bench.  In his final year in law school, Matt was a judicial extern to the Honorable Bruce Beesley, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the District of Nevada.

During his third year at law school, Matt was also involved in legislative action, working with Assemblyman James Ohrenschall in drafting AB 385.  That bill introduced a feed-in tariff rate design aimed at facilitating distributed solar energy development while also surviving preemption under federal law.  Matt also presented the bill before the Assembly Committee on Commerce and Labor during Nevada's 76th Legislative Session.
