The Firm is comprised of three departments: Litigation; Business Law; and Gaming and Regulatory Law. When a new associate joins the firm, they request to belong to a particular department. Each new associate is initially assigned to a partner and to an associate who act as the new associate's mentors within the firm. Work assignments, however, may come from many different partners within the firm. We try to have each associate work with as many different partners as possible. We give responsibility, including client contact, to an associate as soon as he or she appears capable of assuming that responsibility. Each department meets monthly, in person and via teleconferencing, for the purpose of updates and other matters pertinent to the department. Our monthly meetings frequently qualify for CLE credit. The department structure helps to manage the individual practice areas, but is not intended as a rigid barrier. We often form practice groups or client teams that span all three departments.
